The hibiscus is a shrub of the malvaceae family, also called "guinea sorrel". Rich in vitamin C, hibiscus infusion (under the name of bissap or karkadet , depending on the region) with its tangy flavor, very refreshing and comforting . It can be eaten both hot and cold . The hibiscus flower is also often used dried to prepare infusions, jellies, compotes or sweet and savory dishes. Its sweet and floral flavor as well as its color make it an original and delicious ingredient.
The virtues of the hibiscus flower have been known since antiquity and are still traditionally used by Egyptians for its medicinal properties.
Very appreciated for its beauty and its bright colors, the hibiscus is filled with benefits for the skin as for the hair . It moisturizes, nourishes, protects the epidermis from aging. On the hair, it tightens the scales of the fiber and brings shine to the hair by strengthening it. It prevents and slows hair loss . It is also very effective in anti-dandruff.

It has a high concentration of anthocyanins, antioxidant orange -red pigments . Hibiscus tea soothes coughs and sore throats, it would also be an excellent remedy for menstruation -related pain, but also for urinary tract infections . It would act positively on cholesterol , blood pressure and possess antiseptic properties. As a poultice, it would help treat eczema, insect bites, cracks, abscesses.
On the other hand, hibiscus tea is not recommended for pregnant and breastfeeding women .
